Ben Can Hear!!

Every time Ben and I watch a movie he says, "Why do they speak so softly?!" I'm always repeating lines for him. We often pause the movie and I update him on what is going on. If we are watching with others, I whisper right into his ear the recap very quickly. Often times Ben just sits next to the TV because he feels bad asking to have the volume turned up, again.

Ben has had this earwax problem for years. He has tried candlewax, softening gel, and even had his ears flushed with water by nurses, but nothing could budge the impacted earwax.

Well, my hunch was that we could get his ears clean if we used the softening gel for a few days, and then flush it out. A sweet professor of mine came to our house and flushed out his ears last night (thanks Glenda.) It took a good 45 minutes to get his ears clean, which is much longer than I have ever seen. They looked like little marbles and were as hard as them too. (Don't worry, I won't post pictures.)

Ben was thrilled the whole night. He kept saying, "My voice is loud," and "I can hear the fridge, can you hear the fridge?" He describes it as everything sounds more sharp. It was as if he had two ear plugs in (which is exactly what they were, 100% covering his ear drums.) This was literally life changing for him. Thanks again Glenda!

  1. Oh my goodness! That is crazy! Corey complains to me about that too, not to the same extent, but I wonder if that's what his problem is too... Maybe he'd listen to me better! ;)

  4. Hey I found you! That is hilarious. I can't believe you got a house call from Glenda. That officially makes you soooo cool. (Not that you weren't already.)
