August

On our way to Costco, Troy informed me that I wasn't going fast enough. He said, "Mom! Push the red triangle and you'll go Really fast!" I laughed so hard. I decided to pretend to push the hazard lights. He knew I didn't really push it (but I fooled Liam) and he said, "No mom! You have to push like thiiiiis!" And then he showed me. He is really into super heroes and super powers with his friend Michael.

Ben and I have a Costco card. Well, actually just Ben has one because his mom lets us use hers. So grateful. We end up making it a family trip each time because I can't go by myself and the kids want more time with Ben. Liam loves chocolate muffins and we usually make him wait to eat anything until we leave, but sometimes it's just fun to say yes, I guess. Katelyn and Troy were thrilled too. I'm sure this will come back to bite us next time. But Liam was SO happy. This boy loves his food.

I accidentally mentioned "dada" around 5:30 and Katelyn waited for quite awhile. She loves her dada.

Wrestle time with dad is practically therapy in this family.

We decided to try CiCi's. I have fond memories as a child. We have definitely grown up, but the kids loved it and Ben seemed to enjoy the crazy flavors. Below is mac-n-cheese pizza. Hm...

We have been painting every weekend. We should finish the downstairs main areas today. Andy and Christiana came and helped us. These walls are beastly. You can't tell, but we are painting them gray. I love it! It looks so good against the white trim and dark cabinets. Ben doesn't sleep enough in the week and literally fell asleep in the middle of painting.

We drove to Houston Lake. Ben gets SO excited about lakes. It's about 45 minutes from us and will be really nice for camping/boating. Ya know ,when we get a boat in a very long time ;) We definitely miss boating.

We do a lot of swimming and splash pads. Went over to the Walker's and swam. Our sweet neighbors, the Boyer's, watched the boys when we first started painting. They have a five year old, Michael, who has become the favorite friend. They swam in their pool and ate popsicles.

Troy got his first back pack! He knows iron man and that's it. Haha. School starts a week from Monday. He is SO excited!

Ben and I went out last night for our anniversary that is on Monday. His boss recommended this place and it was SO good. I am not one to go pay more, but these chefs know what they are doing. Our appetizer was some kind of special cheese and bread with pesto sauce. Even the root beer was unique and so good. I guess it is made locally and it's kind of famous in Texas.

Anyway, we loved getting out alone and talking about each other. I'm kind of smitten with this guy.

We ventured out in the heat and played free mini golf in Katy. It's free all of the time! We went with some other moms in the ward. It was fun, but too hot. The kids even asked to leave. Ha.

Fall time will be better! But I will say that the heat has not been as bad this summer, according to our neighbors. We feel like it has not been too bad.

Ben is going on a campout on the beach with the teachers down at Corpus Christi. We are excited to explore the different beaches.
